Designing Alignment—Vision & Goal Setting

Learn how to define a practical vision through a productive and respectful group discussion.

We've all been in teams or meetings where, despite our best intentions and efforts, we make little to no progress on a project or issue we care about. Sometimes it feels like we're on such different pages that we're not even in the same book. This confusion can lead to wasted effort, and even conflict in short order. Helping your group clearly define what it's trying to achieve can significantly boost your project and group dynamic within a couple of hours.

This Tactical Learning workshop will give you the tools to run what we call a Card Workshop. You will learn to facilitate a discussion that honours and includes everyone's contributions in order to develop a clear and actionable vision through consensus. (Really, it's possible!)

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the Tactical Learning workshop you will know how to:

  • Facilitate a conversation that helps your group reflect, listen to one another, and realign
  • Define a practical vision that represents the diverse perspectives within your group
  • Empower your group work together toward the same vision
  • Effectively use stakeholder and colleague time
  • Use visual techniques to promote better understanding and create clarity
  • Facilitate a group discussion using the tools
